RIP Poul
Legendary danish (kite)surfer Poul recently passed away. World famous in denmark for surfing despite being aged well above 80 . He passed away as he left the water after another surfsession.
The danish kitesurf community made this touching tribute:
And here the legend in action:

Friday surf
This friday I was able to go to the westcoast in the search of some waves, the weather forecast was looking pretty rock solid allthough it also include low temperatures and possibly snow
When I finally got to the beach in Hvide Sande the conditions were looking pretty mediocre...
Not excactly the waveheight I was looking for so I watched it for a while before I decided to drive further North.. As I drove north it started to rain pretty heavily and the wind picked up... I got out of the car after about 30 minutes and it was howling. I had second thoughts and drove back to Hvide Sande - time wasted!!
The conditions were far from great but lots of surers and SUP'ers in the water figthing for every wave and creating a rather hostile vibe. I decided to go to the south side of the pier to be alone.
In the end just around sunset I had a 20 minutes with offshore wind and nice waves. My smile was wiped of my face when I was caught by a sled-shower while getting out of the wetsuit.
Saturdays wave forecast was looking somewhere near epic, I wasn't able to go but you can enjoy a few pics here
Talking of weather forecasts windguru makes this coming weekend look pretty exciting ( don't tell the stormchaser!!!):
Lots of wave , little wind |

Danish surfchampions
As previously mentioned this weekend offered pretty nice surf, the danish surf champions were crowned in Cold Hawaii and from what I hear the Hartkopp boys were deservedly on top of the podium

John Skye
One of my favourite sailors on the pwa tour is the british John Skye aka Skyeboy. He is an very good allround sailor but I think he would shine even more if the worldtour would include some starboard tack spots.
Be sure to follow his blog and like him on facebook. The blog is update pretty frequently. If you havent allready checked out the first part of his 20112 recap you definitely should .
After that some more shots from Sylt

Phil Horrocks
In my opinion one of the most underrated sailors on the PWa tour . He finished the year in 18 th position and must be alittle dissapointed by that. He is a real force in port tack conditions and always a pleasure to watch. Maybe the ligth wond of this years tour didn't really suited him.
I excpected to see him in or near the top 10.I captured a few shots of him during the recent SYlt worldcup.
For more go to his blog, that I find well written and definitely worth following allthough not updated quite as often as you could hope.
